stupid henchies
i couldn't decide what forum to post this on, i guessed this one, because im talking about the build of little thom. tonight, me and 2 guildmates were trying ring of fire with henchies. out of all the henchies, little thom is the most retarted. when we walk around the lava, he runs right through it. when we run and don't aggro, he approches the enemy and aggros. and even the rest of them are stupid, because when i would res them from dying in the fire, lina would stand in the lava, with minimal health, and res somebody else (or try to) and just die. cant anet just make the henchies a little bit smarter? at least make them not stand in the lava and stand still. but that little thom just takes the cake. i think a dog playing on the computer could've done better.

Haven't seen them stand in lava so much, but I do remember them forever wanting to paddle in the (poisonous) swamp areas are the Temple Of Ages region. To be honest I thought there pathing had improved a bit with a recent patch.

Lina > All
I'd rather have Lina than most people in this game. I keep asking her to join my guild but she doesn't answer.

You should know the henchmen will try to walk through the lava and plan on walking well around pools of lava whenever possible to compensate.

Lava, Swamps, Fire/Dust Traps, you name it, and they will go out of their way to run through it like kids through a sprinkler on a hot summer day.
The trick is, as has been posted already, to plan for that (as much as possible) and give these areas a wide berth. Sometimes that is unavoidable, like when you are running across a bridge between two islands, and Durham thinks the proper route is around the bridge and through the Smoke Phantoms.
But I still prefer the company of henchmen to 75% of the Human AI I've been teamed up with. Those that don't know what it means when your only healing monk pings, "My Energy is at 4 out of 56!". Those that charge ahead to the next mob in an area full of hidden scarabs (a 6 on 3 fight becomes 6 on 15). Those Warriors who will pack a 15 energy spell (Apply Poison) to go fight Undead and stand around waiting for their energy to build back to where they can do something. Oh yeah. They also have mending on themselves so they have 1 pip of regen. Hope you've got all night for that power swing. Whoops! He spent that 5 energy on an Orison on himself. Good work.
I think the Guild Wars team would have to work very hard on henchmen AI to approach the incredible stupidity that my human-controlled companions are capable of. How many of you, after 3-4 tries on a mission like Santum Cay have finally reverted to henchment and finished it the first time?
Lena FTW! Okay, okay, I've been known to yell at the screen when Alesia will wait until she's the last one standing before starting that 8 second res. And yes, I wish any of them had some sense of self-preservation. The only time Alesia runs from an enemy is right directly the very moment after Orion cast his firestorm, so the 3 guys hitting her only suffer ~2 damage from it. So I know where you are coming from. But thank god the devs gave me this choice. I'll take them every time. The only times I go for humans over henchmen is for guildmates, or pure charity.
Damn my better nature.

and henchmen are still smarter/better than the average player population you can get from a random pick up group.

I just finished the Fire Island sequence /w the henchmen. No problems. I stopped a few times and tried to be "Charitable" (since I was playing a monk)... and after 3-7 minutes, the average PUG folded. I'm happy the henchmen were there.

I would like to see Anet work on the not only the henchie AI but also henchie personality. See that's the thing missing from henchies... personality & communication. I want to hear Cynn whine & complain... I want to hear Aidan tell her to calm down.. I want to hear Little Thom swear... I want to hear Stefan belch & so on. I want the henchies to be more life like. I want them to be more human than human.

Now that would be cool. A little background story or something goes a long way. Oh yeah, and Henchies > People 9 times out of 10. Why? Henchies have no life...therefore they will never leave you in the middle of a mission.

Um...after the first lava pool you should have figured out how to stop that. Its not that hard to work with henchies. I've beat the whole game with them except Iron Mines of Moladune, which I skip on all my characters anyways.
If you play with them enough, you know how they act and can avoid dying from some stupid situation. Its just like playing with the same guild mates all the time.

I love Lina. As I am a girl, it might not be conventional to say this, but I find her extremely sexy. She also uses Aegis, and Aegis is awesomely cool.
Seriously though, I never really have problems with then. I do know, however that the Enchanter henchman is stupid... I don't even know what he does.

I also prefer henchmen over people anyday...but I would say I like henchmen 90% more than people...becase every time I think I'm in a good group..a few people always thinks that thier big a bad and agro a lot of reds and they end up dead it's mainly w/mo's that usally do it...but that is just my experince...it's frustrating...so I allways turn to my trusty hencmen and get the job done...I finnaly learned to go to them first

Gods yes! This is one of the main things that makes me wish you could turn on your party members and kick the crap out of them in PvE. The amount of times I've seen the monk do that and stopped right by them to wait, only to see someone else ping their own energy and run off to the next mob as if the monk just wanted to compare like people do with progress to next lvl/skill point. And you just know the next thing you get will be them moaning about the fact that the monk didn't heal them enough in that next fight.

Stupid henchies.. especially alesia or that idiot fighter henchman Stefan! Yesterday i was outside Grendich Courthouse doing few quests ( i think one was finding Althea's ghost) while i was near the area where there is huge group of charrs. For some unknown reason, Stefan started to go after charrs that is like 10 feet away from us.. i was like oh crap.. and within few minutes, 8 charrs came charging after us. While we're getting attacked, alesia, started to run in circle around us.
